Usha is the second daughter of chacha Jai Lal, who was born on 15th October, 1945. She is of pleasant nature, very courteous and kind-hearted. She is diligent, large-hearted and above all bears a helping attitude. She prefers a quiet and peaceful life. She always liked reading books. She was very brilliant in studies from childhood and topped in 10th class Board Examination in her school. Thereafter, she did Master’s in English from Punjab University, Chandigarh. After studies she joined as lecturer in English in F.C. College for Women, Hisar for some time and later, selected as a lecturer in Government College. She was a devoted teacher and was very popular with students and colleagues. After some time, she was transferred to Gurgaon where she became the Principal of the Dronacharya Government Post Graduate College. As a Principal, she made lot of efforts for brining improvement in academics, discipline and value system. After retirement, she settled down in Gurgaon and later on shifted to Defence Colony in New Delhi.
The Presenter kept visiting her place many times and was also well known to her husband, Dr. D.P.Singh, since his college times in HAU, Hisar where we used to play Hockey together and had a close bonding. Behan Usha is very sober, sofSt spoken and has a very sweet voice. She was always found smiling and has never seen in anger.
Usha is married to Dr. Dharam Pal Singh Dahiya of village Rattangarh in Sonepat. The couple is blessed with two daughters namely, Kaadambari and Gayatri (Daisy). Kaadambari, the elder daughter has completed her Law from Delhi University and is currently practicing in Delhi High Court and Supreme Court. She has been recently felicitated as India’s Top Individual Lawyer in Litigation by Forbes Legal Power List. Gayatri, the younger daughter has been a brilliant student and is the recipient of the coveted Rhodes Scholar while still an undergraduate. She did Masters from Oxford (UK) and completed her PhD from Brown University, USA. Presently, she is working at a senior position in the World Bank.
